COREY CLAWSON'S WORK TO BE PUBLISHED IN AISTHESIS

Recent grad and current Department of English administrative assistant Corey Clawson will have several pieces of his writing published in the
Aisthesis honors journal. Poems “From Michelangelo's David,” “Wyoming Calling on Line One,” “Thirteen Folds,” and “The Artistry of Melinda Archer,” as well as an essay on Seamus Heaney, “Learning the Limits of ‘Boundless Inbetweenness,' ” will appear in the Fall 2009 issue. 2010 EMILY DICKINSON CONFERENCE IN OXFORD

USU professor of English Paual Crumbley is the central organizer for the international Emily Dickinson conference to be held August 6-8, 2010, at Oxford University. The official title for the conference is "'Were I Britain born': Dickinson's Transatlantic Connections." Crumbley is President of the Emily Dickinson International Society, the organization that is putting on the conference.

STEVE SIPORIN AWARDED LADY DAVIS FELLOWSHIP AT HEBREW UNIVERSITY

Department of English Professor Steve Siporin will soon be leaving for Hebrew University as a visiting Lady Davis Fellow. There Siporin will teach American Folklore and continue his research on Italian Jews, specifically Augusto Segre, whose memoir Siporin translated. The translation was published in 2008 by University of Nebraska Press.

USU A HUGE PRESENCE IN FOLKLORE SOCIETY OF UTAH'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE

On Saturday, November 14th, the Folklore Society of Utah held its annual conference on the Utah Valley University campus. This year Utah State University had six current and former students together with a faculty member presenting their work. They included Will Pooley, Jeannine Heuneman, Liza Olsen, Bernadene Ryan, Randy Williams, Lisa Duskin-Goedea, and Lisa Gabbert.

GRADUATE STUDENT SENATE INVITES RESEARCH GRANT APPLICATIONS

The Graduate Student Senate (GSS) is currently accepting applications for its Research and Projects Grants. These grants, for amounts not exceeding $1,000, are intended for graduate students actively pursuing either their Masters' or Doctoral degrees. In order to be eligible for a Research Grant, students must be able to reasonably demonstrate they need financial assistance in completing essential research or purchasing necessary materials. Please note that these scholarships are intended to go to offset the costs of students' research/graduate work that their major professor, department, and college could not financially support.
