Professor Joyce Kinkead, attended the Council on Undergraduate Research in Washington, DC, June 30-July 3, 2018, where she presented a poster on “Research Methods in the English Curriculum.” She also accepted on behalf of Dr. David Peak the National CUR-Goldwater Scholars Faculty Mentor Award. Following that ceremony, Kinkead was surprised with a public honoring of her recent endowment of a new award for faculty mentors in arts and humanities. The conference was also attended by newly appointed Associate Vice President for Research Alexa Sand and Program Coordinator Athena Dupont. Kinkead has published several books on undergraduate research in general and on student research in English in particular. She was named a CUR Fellow in 2012.


The Council on Undergraduate Research, founded in 1978, is a national organization of individual and institutional members representing more than 1000 colleges and universities. The mission of the Council on Undergraduate Research is to support and promote high-quality undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and scholarship.
