Dr. Christine Cooper-Rompato Publishes Two Articles
Dr. Christine Cooper-Rompato has published two articles this semester.
“Xenoglossia and Multilingualism in Middle English Sermons on Pentecost” appeared in the collection Multilingualism in the Middle Ages and Early Modern Age. The essay examines depictions of the gift of tongues in English sermons from 1300-1500.
“The Basiliconthaumaturgist: Neologism, Magic, and Mormonism,” appeared in American Notes and Queries; it traces the word “basicilconthaumaturgist” (essentially, “miracle worker”) through 19th-century newspapers, memoirs, and public lectures.
