On October 11, 2016, English Professor Paul Crumbley presented a paper at the University of Portsmouth, England, as part of the University of Portsmouth Center for Literary Studies Seminar Series. Professor Crumbley was invited to participate in this series on the basis of a paper he presented in June at an international conference in Paris, France. His Portsmouth talk, titled “Emily Dickinson’s Funeral and the Paradox of Literary Fame,” was an expansion of the earlier paper and part of ongoing research into Dickinson’s relationship to fame and literary celebrity.
